We are pleased to announce the publication of the scientific article entitled "The Use of Thin Films as Defect Sealants to Increase the Corrosion Resistance of Thermal Spray Coatings" in the Metals Journal, available here: MDPI Open Access Journals.
This study, authored by A. Lanzutti, F. Sordetti, E. Marin, F. Andreatta, A. Carabillò, M. Querini, S. Porro, A. Rondinella,  M. Magnan, L. Fedrizzi, as part of a collaboration between Eurolls SpA, the Polytechnic Department of Engineering and Architecture of the University of Udine and the Department of Applied Science and Technology of the Politecnico di Torino, has the aim to seal the surface discontinuities of thermal-sprayed coatings using PVD and/or ALD coatings. The results showed that the thin films were not able to block the permeation of corrosive media, but they could reduce the permeation of corrosive media with a beneficial behaviour on corrosion resistance.
